Brief Overview of Services

Workplace Violence

Dr. Michelle Taylor has assessed and managed thousands of workplace violence cases since 1993. Dr. Taylor is called upon when an organization has concern or has received a complaint regarding potential violence. Dr. Taylor works with the organization over the telephone to establish an immediate plan to address current safety concerns. In order to reduce the likelihood of future violence, Dr. Taylor investigates and evaluates the situation to determine the likelihood that the case might escalate to violence. This typically includes the following: In-person interviews of employees and/or other persons who may have relevant information; Review and assessment of written documents, emails, personnel files, etc.; Evaluation regarding the possible benefit of obtaining additional information through investigation; Review of the organizations policy/employee manual; and meetings with executives involved in managing the situation. Dr. Taylor provides a written report of her assessment and investigation including recommendations for managing the situation in order to reduce the likelihood of violence. Dr. Taylor specializes in assessing and managing individual cases of potential workplace violence, however she also receives requests to conduct workplace violence prevention trainings, participate on organizations workplace violence committees, and develop workplace violence prevention policies and procedures.

Sexual Harassment & Hostile Work Environment

Dr. Michelle Taylor has conducted numerous investigations in response to complaints of sexual harassment and hostile work environment. Dr. Taylor has years of experience conducting workplace investigations, interviewing thousands of employees, working with victims, interviewing and evaluating criminals, and expertise in human behavior. Sexual harassment/hostile work environment investigations typically include the following: In-person interviews of employees and/or other persons who may have relevant information; Review and assessment of the complaint, written documents, emails, personnel files, etc.; Evaluation regarding the possible benefit of obtaining additional information through investigation; Review of the organizations policy/employee manual; and meetings with executives involved in managing the situation. Dr. Taylor provides a written report of her findings. Dr. Taylor specializes in investigating and managing individual complaints of sexual harassment, however she also receives requests to conduct sexual harassment trainings. Specifically, she provides a two hour interactive anti-sexual harassment training program designed to meet the requirements of California Government Code §12950.1 and customized for specific organizations.

Management Consulting & Executive Coaching

Dr. Michelle Taylor has been a consultant to organizations and executives since 1993. Dr. Taylor is a psychologist who has extensive experience evaluating situations in organizations and providing recommendations for addressing the problem or complaint. She has interviewed thousands of employees and executives, done extensive empirical research on organizational issues, worked coaching executives, and worked as a consultant on various workplace and legal issues in thousands of different organizations. She frequently serves as a management consultant or executive coach in resolving the following issues: Evaluating and responding to an employee complaint; Working with executives who are having difficulty with interpersonal skills, management skills, or the implementation of effective leadership strategies; Managing difficult terminations; Developing organizational systems to improve performance; and Addressing problems of high turnover. While management and leadership conferences, training programs and books offer helpful information, the executive coaching program focuses on providing on-going assistance with the implementation of that information within their organization and insight and direct feedback to the executive regarding their impact on others as it pertains to their personality, strengths, weaknesses, and management style.

Clinical Practice

Dr. Michelle Taylor has a limited clinical private practice through her corporation; Taylor Consulting Psychological & Investigative Services Inc. Dr. Taylor is a psychologist who has treated thousands of individuals with mood disorders, adjustment disorders, psychotic disorders and individual crises while working as a clinical psychologist in Los Angeles County’s Department of Mental Health. While Dr. Taylor’s experience is quite varied, her private practice substantially consists of working with adults with issues in the following areas that overlap with her consulting expertise: career growth/change; civil or criminal legal issues; anger management concerns; life-transition decisions; relationship improvement goals; and performance goals. Dr. Taylor also facilitates an anger management group focusing on workplace issues. The goals of this group include providing clients with strategies to identify, reduce and/or appropriately manage their anger. This is most often accomplished through psycho-education, increased insight, and practicing new techniques. Clients successfully completing this group will reduce and/or eliminate the workplace behaviors that previously interfered with their success.

Workplace Investigations

Dr. Taylor performs investigations for corporate, executive and legal clients in a variety of circumstances. Dr. Taylor’s experience conducting workplace investigations and expertise in human behavior places her in a unique position to conduct and manage behaviorally based investigations including discrimination, retaliation, substance use, misconduct, domestic violence, stalking, disgruntled consumers, and other workplace matters.

Litigation Consultation

Dr. Michelle Taylor provides consultation regarding legal cases where investigative resources and/or expertise regarding human behavior may assist attorneys with additional information or strategies to improve outcomes. Dr. Taylor’s specialty lies in case strategy, research, and witness preparation. Full-service consultation or single strategy session support is available.

Mediations

Dr. Michelle Taylor provides mediation services in situations where there is no pending litigation. Dr. Taylor specializes in the facilitation of meetings involving conflicts or negotiations related to executive partnership agreements, termination of partnerships, and employer/employee or employee/employee conflicts.

Training/Speaking Engagements

Dr. Michelle Taylor provides training on workplace issues tailored to the needs of specific organizations. Programs include management and leadership, workplace violence, sexual harassment, conducting professional investigations, ethics, workplace communication, workplace conduct, stalking, hiring and firing, managing difficult employees, motivation, anger in the workplace, and organizational change. These topics are also the subjects of speaking engagements.
